Wild South coast Way

“The wild South Coast Way” On the Heysen Trail 5 Days 70kms – South Australia –

“The wild South Coast Way” on the Heysen Trail – South Australia – I led a group on the this varied trail in very mild and at times windy conditions. This 75 km walking trail between Cape Jervis and Victor Harbor on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia, You will walk through rugged coastlines. Amazing green valley’s and rolling hills that were once remnants of the last ice age. You maybe lucky to spot some  native wildlife.
Your walk passes through, Deep Creek National Park, Ballaparudda Creek Recreation Park and Newland Head Conservation Park. With four walk-in only campgrounds and four drive-in campgrounds near the trail. This is the start and part of the greater 1,200 km Heysen Trail.
The Heysen Trail  1200kms, extends from Cape Jervis, on the Fleurieu Peninsula to Parachilna Gorge, in the Flinders Ranges. Traversing coastal areas, native bushland, rugged gorges, pine forests, vineyards, farmland and historic towns.

The Heysen Trail is named after Sir Hans Heysen (1877 – 1968) A German-born Australian artist, “notes The Friends of the Heysen Trail.” However, Heysen was known for his paintings such as water colours of the Australian bush. He also had a strong love and bond with the Mount Lofty and Flinders Ranges, which the trail traverses through.

Reach the road for a final stretch to camp that was a purpose built camp site boundary within private property.
